Overview
Dr. Kun-Ho Yoon is a Professor of Medicine at the Catholic University of Korea and president of the Korean Diabetes Association in 2020. Dr. Yoon’s research has explored ubiquitous health care and diabetes mellitus, focusing on β-cell function and islet transplantation. Since 2019, COVID-19 pandemic has threatened public health worldwide. Because diabetes is significantly associated with worse outcomes, international diabetes associations, including KDA, has emphasized strict glycemic control and screening of high- risk populations. However, under COVID-19 pandemic, conventional healthcare system through face-to-face contact may be limited. Modern digital healthcare system may provide solutions to manage patients with diabetes in these special circumstances and help prepare for another pandemic in the future. He will deliver a lecture entitled “Diabetes care: post COVID-19 new normal” based on his scientific journey.
